Is a stylish new kitchen on your wish list for this year? Of course function is always important. That’s why our designers spend time discussing how our clients want to use their kitchen. But kitchens are also an important part of the entertaining and family areas of your home so they need to be stylish as well as functional.
To get your creative juices flowing, here are the 5 big trends for kitchen design this year.
Kitchen Trend #1
In Sydney and particularly on the Northern Beaches, outdoor kitchens are increasingly popular. It means you can socialise with everyone and enjoy our great climate while you are in the kitchen. These days outdoor kitchens can be as simple or as sophisticated as you want. So don’t restrict your ideas to a sink and a barbeque. You really can have it all.
Kitchen Trend #2
Colour is back and dark colours are really on-trend. Black is particularly popular for cabinets, benchtops, taps and sinks. Also on trend is cabinetry in any shade of blue to capture the colours of sea and sky or greens to bring nature into your home.
Kitchen Trend #3
If you have the space, a Butler’s Pantry ensures the hardest working areas of your kitchen are out-of-sight. They can also provide invaluable storage for all of your small appliances, large pots and even a large pantry area to store non-perishable food. As licensed builders, Collaroy Kitchen Centre can extend your current kitchen area to make room for the Butler’s Pantry of your dreams.
Kitchen Trend #4
Stone benchtops and splashbacks continue to be popular and are an essential inclusion in any prestige kitchen makeover. Waterfall edges for kitchen islands provide a continuous, streamlined look. The most common profile for a waterfall benchtop is a mitred finish. However, there are now many profile options if you would like something a little different such as shark nose, splayed or shadow-line finishes.
Kitchen Trend #5
Including natural elements into the design of your kitchen is also popular. This might include open shelving in timber, multiple rattan light fittings over the island or meals area and feature rangehoods in metal or treated timber finishes.
