In 2023, what are the top design trends for kitchens, bathrooms and laundries in Sydney homes? Read on to be inspired but remember, it’s what you want that’s important!
Now that we are in 2023, we thought we’d share some of the top design trends in Sydney homes for your kitchen, bathroom and laundry. Please use these trends as inspiration while you begin planning your renovation.
Your Kitchen
Trend #1 – Neolith benchtops and splashbacks
Neolith is an eco-friendly, porcelain product that is lightweight, heat resistant and super hardwearing for high traffic areas like busy kitchens. While it’s recyclable, we’re sure you’ll love it’s beautiful stone-like appearance. It comes with a price tag but that’s because it’s designed to last.
Trend #2 – Colour and texture
White is out! Colour and texture are in. See our previous posts on adding colour and texture to your kitchen.
Trend #3 – Butler’s Kitchen
There is one constant when it comes to kitchen design and that’s designing it to be the central hub and entertainment area of your home. But no-one wants their dirty dishes and untidy preparation area on display. That’s why Butler’s Kitchens continue to be popular. They bridge the gap between joining the fun and keeping the hard work out-of-sight.
Trend #4 – Island benches, where bigger means better
Big island benches remain gush-worthy whenever someone enters your home. If you have the space, there are all sorts of ways you can use your island bench and big means better. Read our blog on the design innovations people are including in their kitchens and island benches.
Your Bathroom
Trend #5 – A resort feel from anywhere in the world
Like kitchens, white bathrooms are no longer on trend because they can look too sterile. Creating an at-home resort feel has been around for a while. But now that bathrooms are embracing colour, we’re seeing a lot of Mediterranean and middle eastern design themes coming through. Think beautifully detailed Moroccan-inspired tile designs or rich terracotta-hues.
Trend #6 – Natural tones and textures
If bold colours and patterns are not your thing, don’t worry. The use of nature’s colours like taupes, greens and various shades of grey are also on trend. To complete the look, use materials such as Neolith or marble vanity benchtops and tiles, shelves using raw timber edges and rattan accessories.
Trend #7 – Handmade tiles
Handmade tiles have a unique beauty which add balance to our highly manufactured lives. In particular, it’s the irregularity of the colour and size of each individual tile that is proving to be their most attractive attribute.
Trend #8 – Large showers
If you have the space, showers are like kitchen island benches – the bigger the better! As a result, big showers create the opportunity to include bench seats, niches to hold shampoos and beauty products, multiple showerheads and small shelves to make shaving your legs easier.
Your Laundry
Trend #9 – Luxurious appointments
Your laundry may work hard, but it doesn’t need to look shabby. In fact, modern laundries are designed with the same (or similar) materials as kitchens and bathrooms. Think custom cabinetry, stone or marble benchtops for sorting and folding washing as well as built-in or concealed ironing boards.
Trend #10 – Farmhouse sinks
When you think about it, large farmhouse sinks are the ideal size for laundries as well as kitchens. These days, they come in an array of styles that will blend beautifully with modern, classic or traditional styled laundries.
